coffee heath bar crunch

I liked the coffee ice cream, that was good.  However, I didn't like the heath bars, they tasted lousy.

the last waltz (1978)

the last waltz directed by Martin Scorsese

A film about ‘the band’ and their last show, I got this dvd in a box set with a couple other Scorsese films. This film is surprisingly good since I only liked raging bull and hated the other two films.  The performances are great, and entertaining; the interviews are enlightening.  Finally Scorsese did an awesome job with this documentary.

The best extra is the commentary track with Scorsese.

amores perros (2000)

amores perros (loves a bitch)

This movie directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is a tour de force.  The opening scene is critical to this film because it sets the scene for what follows in the film.  This movie is based around three interconnected stories all of them are done with excellence.  The leads in each of the stories are exceptional.

The dvd has 16 minutes worth of deleted scenes, 3 music videos, 2 featurettes and a commentary track.

x2: x-men united (2003)

X2: X-Men United

This x-men movie is the only one I own out of the first 3 films.  The movie has a good opening.  Patrick Stewart’s performance is good.  Singer did a good job directing this film.

Now onto a couple scenes I will mention.  First, the fight between Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike is entertaining.  Second, the dam blowing up is a cool special effect.  Finally, Professor X’s speech to the president is a good way to end the film.

The dvd set (2 discs) is loaded with goodies.  The movie disc has two commentary tracks.  The second dvd has over three hours worth of material.  This includes a 59 minute making of documentary.  Plus, eleven deleted scenes which are interesting and a bunch of other interesting material.

a short ramble

ramble - to talk or write in a desultory or long-winded wandering fashion.

i'm to apathetic today to write anything inspirational, if you want an inspiration read a book, but please not one of those "chicken soup" books.  there only interesting when your inebriated.  They dull your mind, and give you happy feelings.  Yes, lets be happy, happy... when i hit the snooze button and you realize this is just a dream.  You will realize that the sledge hammer you see, will just wake you up to the reality that their is hope in pain.  I know it doesn't make sense, but when did life ever make sense?  I know when pinky always asked brain what they were going to do tonight.  Yacko, sends his regards.

the screwtape letters

The Screwtape Letters

"It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out." 16

"The prayers offered in the state of dryness are those which please Him best." 40

"Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys." 40

"Everything has to be twisted before it's any use to us." 118

the diving bell and the butterfly (2007)

This movie is great.  The song that opens the movie with the x-ray image title sequence is entertaining.  Mathieu Amalric is brilliant as jean-do, a performance that you have to see to believe.  His wife, Celine played by Emmanuelle Seigner is done with passion.  Max Von Sydow plays Jean-do father in a small but pivotal role in the film.  The music in the film makes it greater.

There are three extras in this dvd release.  The best is Julian Schnabel's (director) interview with Charlie Rose.

Quotes:
"This is life?"
"A battalion of cripples."

ps. this is a true story about a guy who wrote a book with one eye after he had a stroke.
